High School
Written November 1992
Appears on Out From Under The Covers

I went down to do some shopping at the mall
I was going down there just to buy some wears
and some fashions for the fall.
Well, I was checking out jeans in the local scene
and listening to the latest sound
When this girl walks in and grins a sexy grin
   that turned my head around.

She was dressed to kill... and who knows, she probably will
She walked my way... but something looked a little strange...

Well she comes up to me and giggles shyly,
so I asked the girl her name
And in a squeaky voice she said "All the boys
   just, like, call me Jane."

Then it dawned on me... something's wrong with what I see
This girl wasn't a dream... she was lucky if she was sixteen.

Well, I turned and left, left her for dead
She should be sent home to her bed
For while you may just think it cool
You just can't get around that she's in
Chorus:
High School.... she probably still wears braces
High School.... her mother drives her places
High School... she probably never heard the Beatles
High School... High School High School

(ninny ninny boo boo ninny ninny boo boo)

So I went to pay for my things and get out of this cage
Then the cashier winked and "not again", I think
why don't they act their age?

I tried to act cool... said "What you doing out of school?"
She said "I'm 22... and I don't talk to jerks like you."

I turned beet red all through my face
She really put me in my place
But I'm not gonna be a fool
Because most of these girls are in

Chorus:
High School.... so I made a mistake
High School.... we all make mistakes
High School... I mean, you look 17... like you're in
High School... High School High School

(ninny ninny boo boo ninny ninny boo boo)
